Yes, even I am on the crackle wave that is spreading between nail polish addicts lately :) When I heard that China Glaze is releasing these beauties I wanted to buy the whole collection. I was waiting for them to hit the stores and then a few days ago a big package appeared! Yay the crackles! I have been playing with these a lot lately. They work great on different finishes and with different brands. But for the swatching I chose to show them to you on China Glaze polishes.
The swatches are all without a base or top coat and are in natural daylight (no sun or lightbox).
BLACK MESH
Black crackle. Very easy to work with. Crackles fast. I am showing you how important the amount you apply is. On my ring finger I applied a very thin coat and on my pinkie a thick one. See the difference? The base polish here is Kiwi Cool-Ada (three coats).
FAULT LINE
Purple crackle! Yes for me! This is a must have. It is very special as it is the only crackle polish with shimmer. This worked great for me too. Again you just have to be careful about the amount you apply. If you put too much you will have an effect like on my pinkie, where it didn´t crackle too much. I love the combination of purple and gold so as a base I used two coats of Midnight Kiss.
CRUSHED CANDY
Interesting color for a crackle polish and you will end up with very interesting combinations :) I found it a bit harder to work with than the previous two but nothing major. The base is one coat of First Mate.
LIGHTNING BOLT
Is a bit watery so it makes a different effect. The base is one thicker coat of Ahoy!
BROKEN HEARTED
I was very much looking toward a pink crackle. I already tried it in so many combinations, looks always great. Here it is over two coats of Jitterbug. Too bad this combo looks better in the close up.
CRACKED CONCRETE
The name says it all. Gray crackle. I applied it on Harmony. I think it looks cool.
On all the pictures I showed you the crackle polishes without a top coat but you should apply it if you wear these.
If you love crackle polishes you will love this collection. I like it a lot, there is a purple crackle, what else could I want? Don´t worry about the formula, I think these aren´t hard to work with. You just have to follow some basic rules when working with crackle polishes. I made a post about this here so have a look.
I hope that in the future China Glaze releases even more shades to choose from :) They did a great job here.
* the product(s) in this post were sent to me by the manufacturer or their PR company

did you have issues with the white one? i feel like it didn't crackle for me...any tips for the white one?
ReplyDeleteHey-Hay: yes it is a bit watery. Try not to put too thick coats. Cracked for me just fine.
ReplyDeletePretty color combinations!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite has to be the green with the Black Mesh...it reminds me of Monster energy drink. Which I hate, but the logo is cool. :3
These crackle polishes look so cool :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the purple :-)
ReplyDeleterealy cool! Like them all! nice collor matching!! Greetzzz
ReplyDeleteI've seen quite a few of these swatched but I have to say I like your base colours best :-D
ReplyDeleteStacie xoxox
I really love it, your nails are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt was my first time using crackle polishes and I was surprised at how easy they were. Maybe it was cause the mani was a few days old and completely dry.
ReplyDeleteThe purple and gold one reminds me of Harry Potter (:
Obávám se, že čím víc fotek vidím, tím víc jsem z nich zklamaná, nelíbí se mi jak praskají, Barry M to umí mnohem líp...
ReplyDeleteI do like them, but just not enough to spend my money on now - I'll probably regret later!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and really pretty combinations. :)
ReplyDeleteI love them!!
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the collection too!
Can't wait!
I love the colour combos you chose :)

great swatches as always! love CRUSHED CANDY :)
ReplyDeletei love the colors you put together! awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these! Especially the purple.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same with Crushed Candy, it doesn't crack as easily or something...
ReplyDeleteEither way, the crackle polishes from China Glaze are amazing.
I'm glad they released them all at once rather than one-by-one like OPI.
You know, you given me hope lol I bought these and they just weren't cracking right or some none at all. Now i shall try again! thank you!
ReplyDeleteAmazing swatches. Loved the colors matches. I´m even thinking of using a crackle polish...
ReplyDeleteSeeing these pics makes me want to go out and buy Crackle polish right now!! I like it, it's so edgy!!
ReplyDeletePoslední šedá s fialkovou je krásna, zbytek se mi nelíbí :-( asi jsem až příliš velká konzerva:D
ReplyDeleteVeruli: konzerva nejsi, ale tak nemusí se všem líbit všechno :)
ReplyDeleteHello there! I am a newbie in this site and I want to thank you for all the amazing shades and tips that you feature. I had been doing my nails since I was 15 (I'm 36 now) and I still prefer the old fashion way of coloring my nails vs. going to the salon and spending a fortune every 2 wks. Your nails are so beautiful and I wish I can have the same effect on my nails when I apply the CG Crackle collection. I tried it on all my fingernails (after a base coat), but the only shade that seems to crackle was the pink polish. I don't know if it's the nail polish collection that I ordered or it's just me, not knowing how to use the CG crackle properly.
ReplyDeleteGR: I never went to a salon to make my nails, I think it is much more fun to do it at home :) About the crackle: what base polish did you use and was it completely dry?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quick reply. For yrs, I love experimenting with different colors but it is only after I read your blogs that I actually had the courage to order fun colors as purple and blue. :) I am using Sally Hansen's Wined Up Instra Dry as my base coat bec. I am too fidgety to wait. The base coat was completely dry, however, I noticed that I am applying it too thick that's why I didn't achieve a good crackle.
ReplyDeleteGr: you have to play with the crackles a bit to get the idea of how they work :) I am sure you will get into it fast and you will love it. Have a look at my post called Black Shatter tips and tricks :) hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely that it's more fun to experiment with different shades of nail polish at home than having it done by a technician at the salon. For 3 years, I tried using acrylic nails, having my nails airbrushed, etc. but it brought me no satisfaction and it made my healthy nails looked tired. I feel happier when people would complement me about my nails when I paint them myself. Hmmm, it looks like I have to be more patient and do some more trial and error with CG Crackle collection. The colors are fantastic and it would be fun to mix and match them with CG Poolside collection now that spring is just around the corner. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour nails look BEAUTIFUL!!! I just bought the crackle polish today (black and white) and I'm so excited to go paint my nails!! :) Thank you for showing us what each color will look like, as I think I need to go buy the rest of them now! ;)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Amanda
